A complete reconstruction of that facility has been carried out, which we have now improved, modernized and made it more energy efficient and safer to use – said the mayor of Novi Sad.
The Mayor of Novi Sad, Miloš Vučević, together with the member of the City Council, Dalibor Rožić, attended the cultural and artistic program in the completely renovated premises of the House of Culture in Rumenka, which is also the seat of the Cultural Center “Rumenka” and KUD “Sloboda”. – By visiting the House of Culture in Rumenka, we are marking the end of investment works that began at the end of August 2018 and which lasted until the beginning of this year. A complete reconstruction of that facility has been carried out, which we have now refined, modernized and made it more energy efficient and safer to use.
It is a space used by the recently established Cultural Center “Rumenka”, established as an example of how the decentralized cultural policy of the city is implemented in practice, as well as KUD “Sloboda”, as one of the most organized and most represented cultural and artistic societies lasting almost 40 years – said the mayor of Novi Sad.
– A total of 13 million dinars was invested in this building, and we will continue to finance cultural programs through the City Administration for Culture and to invest in the contents that will be organized in that building. I am grateful to the people from the local community and the Cultural Center Rumenka who made the exhibition of photographs “Then and Now” to remind us how until recently the building looked both outside and inside. In Rumenka, we constantly have a lot of investments, primarily related to the sewerage network and communal equipment, and further plans concern the construction of a long bicycle path Novi Sad-Rumenka-Irmovo-Kisac, as well as the expansion of the road Rumenka-Novi Sad – said Vucevic.
In the completely renovated space of the former Sokolski dom, and later the House of Culture, which is owned by the City Administration for Property and Property-Legal Affairs, the director of the Cultural Center “Rumenka” Dragana Milosevic, councilor in the Assembly of the City of Novi Sad Marko Jovanovic addressed the audience. On that occasion, the mayor was presented with a symbolic gift – the monograph “Rumenka-Piros” by Danilo Kabić, published by the Cultural Center “Rumenka”.
After visiting the renovated part of the premises of the House of Culture, the attendees saw a display of photographs in the exhibition part of the House of Culture called “Once Upon a Time” and attended the presentation of art workshops of the Cultural Center “Rumenka” in the field of decoupage and calligraphy. After the consecration ceremony of the House of Culture, KUD “Sloboda” performed with dances from Belgrade’s Posavina, then the children’s choir of the kindergarten “Veseli patuljci” with songs “Rumenka” and “U livadi pod jasenom”, as well as the drama studio of the Cultural Center “Rumenka” reading an excerpt from Branislav Nusic’s play “Kirija”, which will premiere in June.
